Women's Guiding and Classes

Climbing with and learning from Women mentors and guides provides a unique dynamic that is nurturing and less intimidating.

Our guides truly know and value the female only learning experience that allows us all to embrace our vulnerabilities and be our best selves.

Women’s classes are more than just climbing, it’s an opportunity to connect and learn in a deeper way and have a safe platform for discussing women’s issues.

Movement and Mindset

This climbing day is all about how to notice and improve your movement on the rock.  On top rope we will climb a variety of "explorations" including footwork and balance drills to help build a more stable and relaxed foundation of movement.

This day is not about getting to the top but noticing how we read the rock and adjust our body in response.

Annika

I didn’t truly appreciate the impact of a female only space until I entered one. I have been climbing with only men or a mix of men and women for my entire life but never expected there to be much of a difference in a women only program.

There were very subtle fears or concerns that would arise when I was in male dominated spaces . “Will they think I’m a wimp because I don’t want to climb at the very top of my skill range all day” “will they think that question is stupid” “is my fun colored top too fashion oriented, does it look like I’m seeking attention”.

Once I entered female dominated spaces I realized these concerns were small mental roadblocks keeping me from gaining everything I could from a class or climb. In a female only space I feel empowered to ask the question in the back of my mind without the fear that I will be looked down upon and I feel able to speak up when my feet hurt and I need a break or when I am mentally tired.

I love to exist in a learning environment that allows me to interact with my learning unbridled by the concerns of gender based anxieties.

Movement and Mindset

In this class we move our attention from WHAT we climb to HOW we climb.

Through top rope climbing we will review a series of exercises and "explorations" that focus on creating a strong foundation of movement and balance.

You will learn how to position your feet for maximum balance and stability and how to "listen" to the route and rock and how it directs us towards our innate movement.

We also focus on themes of awareness, intention and curiosity in our climbing.
